Gartner India “Joy of Giving” CSR Campaign Report
Corporate Social Responsibility (“CSR”) is integrated in Gartner’s core values and business models. Gartner encourages its employees to also contribute to the society by engaging in various CSR activities and creating impact. The CSR team based out of THC office, Gurugram (“CSR Team”) conducted a fund raising campaign based on the theme – “Joy of Giving” around Diwali for promoting menstrual hygiene amongst underprivileged girls and to financially support completion of some basic civil work at a local Government Middle School situated at Village Choma Kheda, Gurugram which has 342 Under privileged students enrolled, 100 girls and 242 Boys (“School”). Jwala Trust (“Jwala”) is the implementing partner for this Project.
Project: Special Health Campaign on Menstrual Hygiene and some basic Civil Work at Government Middle School, Village Choma Kheda, Gurugram
Menstrual Hygiene is vital to the empowerment and well-being of women and girls worldwide. It is about more than just access to sanitary pads and appropriate toilets – though those are important. It is also about ensuring women and girls live in an environment that values and supports their ability to manage their menstruation with dignity. In India, only 1 in every 2 girls have knowledge about menstruation before their first period. The impact that this Project intends to create is a world in which every woman and girl is able to manage her menstruation in a hygienic way- in safety, privacy, and with dignity- wherever they are.
With the funds received from the CSR team, Jwala distributed sanitary napkins to the girls of the school aged between 11-14 years and also conducted a session on menstrual hygiene. Distribution of Sanitary Napkins among girls by the CSR team was very educational and heart-warming experience. On one hand the under privileged girls do not have access to a basic thing like sanitary napkins, clothing’s, books etc and on other hand they dream to achieve high in life. The struggle for them to survive is very harsh and school dropout rate high after 8th Standard. These small initiatives go a long way and Jwala hopes Gartner would continue the support to the school and partner with Jwala for its future initiatives.
The school lacks basic infrastructure facilities and after having rounds of discussion with the School Principal (Mrs. Rana) to identify the priority areas which needed attention, the funds were utilised for completion of half constructed classrooms, stair case railings and flooring and green board was also bought for the classroom.

CSR Team’s visit was very encouraging for the School authorities and students. The team discussed with the staff other areas where CSR funds support is required by the School. Principal stated most urgent need is for the sports facilities, water purifiers, Library and monetary support for meritorious students to continue the studies. The CSR Team was very observant and promised to do their best to help.
Jwala thanks the CSR team of Gartner India for giving an opportunity implement the employees contributed funds from the campaign “Joy of Giving” It was a significant Project for the trust in the social sector.
